Well, Hazel is often scared of things like monsters, but there are some she likes (Elmo, Cookie Monster, etc.). This year her fears seem worse than usual, but this monster activity book she is enjoying! Monstrous Fun: A Doodle & Activity Book by Travis Nichols comes with a warning. It is for monsters only. Hazel finds the warning amusing. Once you turn past the title page with the warning the book is divided up into sections of various monster holidays. Each holiday has different activities, coloring, find the differences, matching, mazes and more! It begins with All Hallow's Eve of course. After all Halloween is a monster's holiday lately. The next holiday is Fangsgiving. It is a feast to celebrate when the Noobs and Lil'Grims met.

After Fangsgiving comes Crunchmess which includes the Claws Brothers and songs to sing.

Then it is All in Brine's Day, which is the day the monsters show how much they care by giving friends and family  and tolerated ones gifts. This section includes cards. Then it is Eggster which celebrates the hatching of the great egg of Tony otherwise known as Earth. Then it ends with Bendybendence Day which celebrates the freedom in monsterdom.  As you can see the holidays have faint similarities to ours. It is a fun book that can be used all year round.

Fansgiving Maze and Matching Activities
The monsters in this book are not scary and the holidays are funny. Hazel has been really enjoying working in this book and actually didn't want to go to school today because she just wanted to work on the book more. I love that Monstrous Fun makes the monsters less scary and the activities keep her entertained. It was a huge help this morning when she got scared of being by herself in the family room watching television and was to awake to be in bed with me and it was too early for me to up. She brought her gel pens and markers into her room and worked on coloring and the various activities. She did not want to stop. I hope you will check it out!
