Are you getting ready for Christmas? Have you mailed your cards yet? Wrapped the gifts? There always seems to be so much to do this time of year. I always look for ways to stop and enjoy the season. In our house this often includes some crafts. This year we made our own Christmas cards. We always do a photo card and we still did, but we added our own personal touch with a simple craft. I had bought the tree punch at work as well as a pack of spruce flat cards. We punched them and decorated them with gel pens, liquid pearls and washi tape and then glued them on to the cards and added a sticker star. Some we used plan cardstock and covered in the washi tape and then punched.
I used My Memories Suite Digital Software 7.0 to make the cards. The back side also had three pictures on it, but I didn't photograph it. I was sent the updated My Memories Suite as an affiliate. (If you make a purchase I would love to have you use my code: my Share the Memories Code which is STMMMS83543). My Memories Suite is so easy to use and the newest version 7.0 is no different. I first reviewed My Memories Suite a few years ago (when it was version 3.0). I use it all the time for things on the blog but don't always mention it. I often make my buttons on it since you can export as a jpg or png from the program. You can also print at home or have them print it for you.
This button was also created (as well as my Crafty Moms Share button on this button). All of the extras I use are free or came with the software. It gives you so many possibilities and then for small amounts you can purchase even more backgrounds and embellishments. It makes digital scrapbooking fun and easy. I have also done decorations for birthday cards and so much more with this software. There are so many different applications to it.
I also wanted to share another fun little craft. Since I had bought the washi tape for the trees and had more we decided to make some gift tags. To make these we used white cardstock, washi tape, a large circle punch (ours is 3" but could be 2 or 2.5 inches), glue or double sided tape (we used a tape runner), and string or ribbon. Cut the card stock into pieces big enough for the punch but not too big since you will waste washi tape and cardstock if it is too big. Cover the front of the piece with washi tape.
Then punch out the circle. I always put the washi tape to the bottom and look to see how it will show on the punched piece first. Some of the glitter washi tapes are thick and hard to punch! I also punched out a plain white cardstock circle for each tag. Cut a piece of ribbon/string and glue to the plain white circle as the ornament hanger.
Next I took a piece of the plan red washi tape and wrapped it around out string to make the top part of the ornament. Then glue the top to the back and you can write the to and from on the back! The three inch circles are big enough to use as ornaments as well!
