On Monday I started a new series for this week: New Year Resolutions Review. My first goal for 2016 is to work with Hazel more regularly on her Spanish. My second goal was to find joy in my every day life. My third goal is to grow closer to Jesus. My fourth goal (and these are in no particular order) is to find time to relax. Today's goal is one many people make at New Year's. It is for better health and fitness. The product I am reviewing for this goal is Love & Care For the One and Only You by Michelle Medlock Adams.
This book has 52 inspirations/chapters to read about every aspect of being healthy and fit. It includes everything from taking care of your body since it is a gift from God to being a good role model for your children. It also deals with the mentality of becoming fit. Many of us hold onto our past ideal image of ourselves (whether prechildren weight or perhaps college weight) and are trying to get that back. There is a chapter devoted to letting go of that image and to live in the present looking forward. This is such an important lesson for all of us as we age!! Each inspiration ends with a prayer, a little motto for the chapter and a hint for success.
This book is unlike anything I have read on fitness and weight loss. It is inspiring the reader to love God more by taking better care of oneself. It is using all the right inspirations to want to take care of oneself and to think of oneself in a more positive light. It actually helps me with resolution #3 as well as this one!!
It is an easy read and I find it very enjoyable to read. Each chapter makes the reader reconsider things in his/her life. There is a chapter with Michelle Medlock Adams shares her own experience of being overheard by her daughter when she kept complaining about how fat she was and having her five year old daughter say she was fat the next day (children are always listening, watching and learning from us). That lesson was an eyeopener for Michelle to change her words to herself and is an important one.
At the end of the book there is also a recipe section with recipes from various people (friends of Michelle). The recipes look delicious and I cannot wait to try them. This book has it all and is what I think will finally help me slim down and keep the weight off. It inspires me more than any other plan I have had and am willing to see where it leads. I love adding God into my plan and I really love how the book adds God as well as family as motivation. So if you are like me and want to get fit and healthy in all aspects of your life, I recommend Love & Care For the One and Only You!! I'll let you know how the plan is working this year!!
