Today I get to share with you a fun book for making rag dolls and all of her accessories. My Rag Doll by Corinne Crasbercu has eleven versions of a rag doll.

Things I love about this book is that the dolls are made from tea stained old sheets and from the same pattern. That means all the clothes and accessories work for each doll. I also liked that I did not have to enlarge the pattern pieces, however one of my complaints is that I did have to add on my own seam allowances and hem allowance.

I made a doll from an old sheet that ripped. I tea stained it but did not get it even or very dark. I still have plenty of more sheet to make another doll. I let Hazel chose the hairstyle. I need to secure the knots a bit more so they will not come out when Hazel sleeps with her. I also somehow got one leg much larger than the other. Oops!! At least the doll doesn't really walk. I still have to make her a dress but I did cut out the pattern for the dress.
Eventually she will have a dress out of the Beatrix Potter fabric. The dress pattern is the one for the Doll in Pink Dress. I am going to make the bloomers and shoes as well.

This book is not for a beginner sewer. There were definitely things assumed that the reader would know and there were no guides for certain stitches and such. However the instructions were clear and I really liked how the hair was explained for attaching it. I also love all the various ideas and patterns there are for clothes. One of my favorites was the fairy (with the cupcakes and yes there is a pattern for the cupcakes as well).

I definitely see some fairy wings and cupcakes in my crafting future!! Overall I like this book. It is not the clearest at all times but I love the variety and the fact that the various clothes fit all the doll versions!! Now I have to go make a dress for the poor cold doll.
