I Am Martin Luther King, Jr. -- Ordinary People Change the World Blog Tour

Disclosure: Penguin Random House Books gave me a copy of this book free of charge for this review. All opinions in my review are my own and I did not receive any other compensation.  As in all my reviews I am providing links for your ease, but receive no compensation.

Today we continue the Ordinary People Change the World Blog Tour. The Ordinary People Change the World Series is by Brad Meltzer and illustrated by Christopher Eliopoulous. There is a giveaway from Penguin Kids below for the whole series as well!! Today's book is I Am Martin Luther King, Jr. I had the pleasure of reviewing this book at its release in January

This book is perfect for Black History Month as well. (By the way have you entered the Multicultural Kid Blog's Black History Month Giveaway yet?) Although Hazel did comment on how Martin Luther King, Jr. had a mustache throughout the book she loves it!! This one really shows what his life was like and his goals. It includes the struggles as well as the speeches and successes. It is a wonderful book that shares Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dreams for our country. It is also done in a very kid-friendly manner. We made our puppet to go with this book.

Hazel thought hard as to which person shape to use. She held the various skin tones up to the cover of the book to make sure she got the right one. We also made him shoes though he is the only one we did paper shoes. She also got the idea of wanting the puppets to hold hands based on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s I Have a Dream speech. This is why we share all the puppets of the books we have featured so far holding hands in each post. Eventually she is not able to hold them all so we lay them on the floor holding hands.

I hope you will continue to join us for the Ordinary People Change the World Series. Our next one will be on Wednesday!!
