Then The Unofficial Guide to Learning with LEGO®  by Danielle Buckley, Dayna Abraham, Laura Marschel, Nicolette Roux, Samantha Sopher-Caetano and Sarah McClelland is perfect for you. This amazing book has over 100 different activities to make learning and playing fun. They use LEGO building blocks in many different ways.

There are activities for helping with reading, writing, math and science as well as engineering plus art, colors, social skills, emotions, memory games and more. It is truly the book that has it all. And all of these activities are done with the LEGO building blocks you have at home already (or at least most homes do already). These activities are great for many different ages as well. The range is 3 to 10 year olds. Something for everyone!!

Now you know I am always interested in seeing math ideas and I have to say they have some great ones!! Hazel is still practicing her addition facts this summer and some of these activities bring a bit of fun to it. Then there is the telling time activities and graphing and so many other math ideas. I love them!! However we decided to share a fun activity. I challenged Hazel to build a maze for a marble. We had some fun with this.
It had been awhile since Hazel played with her LEGO Building Blocks and she remembered how much she liked them. Playing with LEGO Building Blocks is always educational but the ideas in this book make it even more so!!

We had fun adding the little arches and figuring where they would fit across. Even the fun activities involve learning and thinking!! Then we would try it out and see if we could get the marble from the first window to the second window. Then Hazel wanted to try it backwards. Gotta love her thought process!!
Hazel wants to try some of the science and engineering activities as well. I can see us spending some time this summer with her LEGO Building Blocks.

Of course since LEGO Building Blocks are a favorite of both Steve and mine, I think this will make the summer extra fun!! The digital version of the book comes with downloadable printables needed for a few of the activities. This is a must have book for parents, teachers, and libraries!! I hope you will check it out!!
