With the Christmas season approaching it seems like a wonderful time to help our kids look at the life of Jesus. Today I am sharing three books that help kids do just that. The first book is Candle Day by Day Walk with Jesus by Juliet David. This book breaks the life of Jesus into forty parts for forty days. There are 42 days left before Christmas!!
The book goes through the story of Jesus' birth to his death and rising again. Each day there is a very short part of the story. It also includes some of the parables and various Bible stories. The stories are simplified and include a picture as well. There is also a short scripture verse and a question or fact about the story as well. It is perfect for children to explore the life of Jesus on their own.
Our next book is Who Is Jesus? by Christina Goodings and illustrated by Maria Royse. This book explains about the time Jesus lived as well as his life. It has scripture throughout the book and illustrations. The inside front cover includes a map with many of the Biblical areas marked. This book presents the various parables and Bible stories in simple and short ways that kids can understand. It takes the important parts of Jesus' life and shares them at the proper age level of kids. It is a wonderful book!!
Our final book is Jesus Detective by Peter Martin and illustrated by Peter Kent. This fun book is a search book. Each double page has a large picture with a bit about Jesus and his life and then the borders of the page has things to look for in the picture. Hazel always loves these search books and this is no different. The illustrations also help the kids vision life in Biblical times. There are pages about the messenger from Augustus Caesar, the shepherds, the journey to Jerusalem for Passover, being a carpenter, and more. This book makes the learning about Jesus even more fun with the picture search!!
So if you would like your child(ren) to learn more about Jesus (the Reason for the upcoming Season), I hope you will check these books out. They make learning about Him fun.
