This week I picked up my needle felting tools and checked out The Natural World of Needle Felting by Fi Oberon and photographs by Brent Darby. Hazel pulled out a Klutz needle felting kit so she could needle felt with me. So we spent the day needle felting together.
This book has adorable projects with various ranges. It also has a wonderful explanation about the supplies and methods of felting. It is probably the best explanation/introduction of felting I have ever read. My only comment is that all of its projects use something called prefelt which I have never heard of and did not know where to find it. But reading a bit about it I realized I could make my own.
I had Hazel go through the book and chose a project for me to try. She wanted all of them!! I told her I would start with one of the ones that was a one dot (for easiest). She chose the rabbit.
Mine is not quite as cute as the one in the book, but Hazel liked him. I was surprised at how big the book had me make him. She also made a rabbit with her kit.
I promised her I would pictures of both rabbits on here.
She did most of it by herself so I have to say I am pretty impressed. Her skill has gotten much better. She really enjoyed it as well.Overall I love the projects in this book and can honestly recommend it highly to you.
