This week we have done a few crafts. The first to share is our Super Bowl craft. It was Patriots Spirit Day at Hazel's school on Friday. I checked out Patriots t-shirts and refused to spend the $20 on them, so I bought some printable iron-on transfers and made her one. This way she could participate and not wear her uniform and we didn't spend too much on a shirt she will wear once. (I already had the grey t-shirt.) My father now wants one since he is the huge Patriots fan in the family.
Now our other crafts for the week came as part of a school project. Hazel's class is studying rocks and minerals. She was given the school project of creating a rock pet. Ages ago I bought Rock Painting Animals Book & Kit. We pulled it out so she could get ideas as well as a rock.
Hazel decided to make a rock look like our cat, Fluffy. I did one as well. Hazel focused on her face whereas I did the whole body. We made felt ears and pulled out the googly eyes as well.
She had so much fun making it that she wanted to do the others. She decided to make a Ducky one. I finished him up with a foam beak and a piece of feather on the top.
I also found some peachy color paint so we did a girl. I glued on some doll hair as well.
For the smaller details we used paint markers. Then Hazel did a rainbow rock (to go with a book review later this week). She used just the paint markers on it.
We have one more rock to paint or decorate but it is a weird shape so we have not figured out what to make it. (I used it as a rock stand for the other rocks for photos.) I also gave my cat rock a bit of background cover to make the cat stand out more.
We had fun painting rocks and probably will be painting rocks we find this spring. It is such a fun project and it really let us get creative.
Thank you to everyone who shared with us at our last party!! I loved seeing what everyone has been creating lately!! Below are some features from the party, but this is just a small sample of great ideas shared! This week we have two groups of features: Valentine's Day and Every Day Crafts.
Also remember for your child-oriented crafts, activities, lessons, etc. Sharing Saturday is going on!! For any cultural related posts (diversity and/or multicultural as well) be sure to share at the month long Creative Kids Creative Blog Hop.
