Autumn Pumpkin Crafts & More -- a Crafty Weekends Review & Link Party

Disclosure: Oriental Trading sent me these products in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Can you believe August is almost over and schools are starting up? Where did the summer go? To kick into the fall season, we are sharing some pumpkin themed crafts and products. And just in case you want to really skip ahead be sure to check out our Christmas card post yesterday! I know crafters will understand the need to start those crafts early!! We decided to focus our posts around pumpkins since they work for fall as well as Halloween and Thanksgiving. We have had a lot of fun with pumpkin crafts and with pumpkins. Last year I shared a tutorial to make a fabric pumpkin. I used this pumpkin in several of my pictures. We will start with our DIY Door Pumpkin.

I used the Pearlized Acrylic Paints that I reviewed in July. I painted one side orange. (I mixed the red and yellow to get the orange.) The other side I painted teal. (I mixed the blue and green and found it took a lot more blue to get the right shade.) I want the orange side to be up all fall and then on Halloween we will use the teal side to let the parents and trick-or-treaters know we have allergy safe treats (more on that later). I tried to use a glow-in-the-dark yellow paint to write the "Allergy Safe Treats" and then outlined it with a paint marker. I used my paint markers to write the "Autumn Blessings." Now I just need to find some twine or a leather lace to hang it.
We had fun painting the DIY Ceramic Pumpkin Banks. This is Hazel's favorite craft ever. We are still working on some, but again we used the Pearlized Acrylic Paints (and the glow-in-the-dark paint we had). Hazel's goal was to use each paint at least once. I tried to make a teal pumpkin but found the teal paint a bit hard to make. Hazel is planning on painting a face on one of the orange pumpkins. I noticed they are perfectly sized for the dolls. I posed Saige and Kit with the pumpkins so you can see how the size works with 18-inch dolls. We had fun with polka dots, chevron stripes and more. The bonus is they are banks!!

Our next craft is for Halloween. It is a Christian one. You may remember the Christian Halloween party we had a couple of years ago. Since we do not like the gory and scary side of Halloween, I always like to spend time focusing on God and Jesus with Halloween fans to take some of the fright (and evil) away. This craft is the Christian Pumpkin Sand Art Magnets.

Each sand art comes with six colors of sand: purple, black, orange, yellow, white and green. The packets are small, but there is enough for these. I always use a tray underneath to be able to reuse the sand. I poured extra sand into baggies and separated the colors. I love how easy these are since they have the adhesives on each shape. Hazel loves these projects and is working on hers still.

Our next craft is perfect for Thanksgiving. The Thankful Pumpkin Craft is very easy and so detailed! This one does require some glue. To make it the pieces of the pumpkin are glued on (the front and leaves to the back). Once the glue dries the seeds with what the crafter is thankful for written on can be put into the pumpkins. I love that the pieces to write on look like large pumpkin seeds. (You may also notice I am thankful for my Crafty Moms Share followers! Thank you for reading!!) It is a nice easy craft that helps focus the kids on the meaning of Thanksgiving!

We also got a roll of Prism Pumpkin Stickers. We have not decided how we want to use them yet, but they are fun and I love how they shine. They remind me of The Pumpkin Patch Parable story and would go great with it!
We also got some allergy safe treats to give out. They are still pumpkin themed! We got the Peanuts Halloween Pullback Pumpkins. Hazel loves Snoopy and has been really into reading Peanuts and watching the various shows. Last year we had a Peanuts Halloween Party
The pullback pumpkins have Snoopy riding in a jack-o'-lantern and they work very well as you can see in the video. We love them and are sure there will be some kids who will want this as a treat!

We also got Pumpkin Guts Slime. The packages are small and are perfectly sized to use with dolls. You can see Saige holding one above. Slime is the in thing still and we figured there might be some kids who would want this fun take on pumpkins. The slime does remind me of the pumpkin guts you deal with when carving.

Our final allergy safe treat are these adorable Mini Jack-O'-Lantern Rubber Duckies. There are three different faces on the pumpkins. Aren't they adorable? So are you ready for the fall and its holidays? Be sure to check out the great ideas Oriental Trading has for fall and Halloween!
