I remember going to the library as a young girl and taking out the little Beatrix Potter books. I loved her stories and the beautiful illustrations. This is what inspired me to decorate Hazel's nursery in the theme of Beatrix Potter. I made curtains and a crib skirt with Beatrix Potter themed fabrics. I didn't finish the quilt for Hazel, but gave it as a gift later. I also used some of the fabric to make clothes for Hazel when she was younger and used some on her nursery rhyme quilt that still is on her bed. She loves Beatrix Potter books as well. Therefore when I saw Stitching with Beatrix Potter: Stitch, Sew & Give 10 Adorable Projects Featuring Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck & Friends by Michele Hill.
I keep looking at the fun projects in this book and try to decide which one I want to try, but I haven't tried any yet. There are many projects with the Beatrix Potter characters like the wool ball, bubbles nursery quilt (folded on shelf), and handmade hexies that are all pictured on the cover. There are also projects like the 1863 wedding quilt that do not have the characters in it,but have nature and the colors of Beatrix Potter illustrations. Another project without the characters is this cherry twist cusion.
The projects in this book include quilting, sewing and embroidery. The instructions are very clear. I have an e-book and find the patterns a bit confusing. I think the print book has a pull-out sheet with all the patterns on it and the ebook has various parts of the pull-out sheet and on some there are parts of the patterns.
I wish I had this book before Hazel was born. I would have loved to make the bubble quilt and bunting for Hazel's nursery. I love the characters on them. And how cute is the iron cover. I didn't keep an iron in the nursery, but it is still adorable.
There are also projects for a nursery like the wool ball, pinwheel decorations, wool felt storage box and there is another quilt that has the characters embroidered on it. Talk about fun nursery decorations and/or baby gifts! I hope you will check out this fun book!!
