Disclosure: Penguin Random House sent me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Today I am sharing a young adult novel that has mystery, suspense, love, fame, and rock 'n roll. Could you ask for more? The book is The Falling Between Us by Ash Parsons.
This story takes us into the world of teenage Joshua Blackbird and his life as the new teen rock star. He has it all--fame, money and a lifestyle he hates. He and his hometown girlfriend have left the trailer park in Alabama and have been touring. The story is narrated by his girlfriend, Roxanne. She is his high school sweetheart and the one that many of his songs are written for. She left with him to make his first album and tour, but she is not the right image of a girlfriend according to his manager, so he has a fake superstar girlfriend. The story shows the tiring life of interviews, performances and more that comes with the fame. Plus the fans and bodyguards and... But what happens to Joshua Blackbird? He disappears and is believed dead. What happened to him? Is he really dead?
I love how this book shows the negative side of fame. The story itself shows the emotions of losing control and being controlled by the manager. They all see him falling apart but he feels responsible for so many. It also is a love story. After all who leaves home and drops out of school to stay with her boyfriend. The story itself is written well and is intriguing. It draws you in and makes you want to read more. I really enjoyed this book and could see young adults liking it. There is so much happening and it is suspenseful. I hope you will check it out.
