Disclosure: I was sent these books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Last year Hazel became known for the "Did you know..." cards I put in her lunch and snack. Her teacher had her share them with the entire class and the kids loved it. This year I wasn't doing it and Hazel came home saying the kids are asking where they are. Now one of my favorite places to pull from is National Geographic Kids books like the two I am sharing today!! The first book is Why Not? Over 1,111 Answers to Everything by Crispin Boyer.
Do you have a child who asks questions all the time? Is he or she trying to figure out how the world works and why or why not things happen? This is the perfect book for that child. It answers all sorts of questions from "Why don't eggs from the supermarket hatch baby chickens?" to "Why haven't humans colonized the moon?" and so many more. There are seven chapters and each has all sorts of questions and answers.
In true National Geographic style there are many wonderful photographs as well as interesting facts. It covers topics about animals, the earth, space, history, humans, machines and pop culture. This book has a bit of everything and is full of great did you knows!!
This book would make a wonderful holiday gift! It is recommended for ages 8 to 12. I know Hazel will love it!!
The next book is one of the Weird but True! Series. We LOVE these books!! This one is National Geographic Kids Weird but True! 10. These books are the perfect source for "Did you know" cards. Every page is full of interesting and often weird facts.
I love the photographs in this book and how they show some of the interesting facts. However there is a font and color combinations that I find hard to read. That is my only complaint.
I will have to share these as "Did you know" cards since Hazel's class is now allowed to chew gum and her teacher loves pineapples plus Paul Revere is local history for us!! I love it!! These books are so fun and is something to pick up for a quick read. You can just turn to any page and find something interesting. Great for a stocking stuffer since they are small books. It is also recommended for ages 8 to 12.
So if you are looking for some books for holiday gifts we highly recommend each of these!!
