DIY Beach Tic Tac Toe -- a Crafty Weekends Craft & Link Party

Summer began last week. I am guessing people are getting ready to go to the beach and on vacations. Today I am sharing a simple craft that can be planned with purchased sea treasures or with found ones. The idea for this craft came from a tic-tac-toe game that I saw at our local Hallmark store. I didn't want to spend the money but loved the idea. The one at the store used sand dollars and starfish.

This craft is very easy and uses mostly items from around the house. I used a piece of cardboard, a piece of sand paper, washi tape and some glue plus of course the sand dollars and the starfish.
I thought the sand paper would be a fun addition to give the feeling of the sand at the beach. I used green washi tape to represent the seaweed. First thing I did was glue the sand paper to the cardboard. I put a dictionary on top and let it set for about thirty minutes. Then I measured where to put my washi tape. I used the dictionary to help press the washi tape onto the sand paper. I also wrapped it onto the back. I am thinking about covering it with a coat of Mod Podge as well.

Now the game is ready to play. One person gets the sand dollars and the other the starfish.

Now if you cannot find sand dollars or starfish easily and do not want to spend money on them (I bought mine at Cape Cod), you can use rocks and shells that are found on the beach. You will need about six of each.

Now it is time to enjoy your summer!! Happy playing!! I know our trips to the beach will help fill our Close to Home Decor Box from Thirty-One. (Disclosure: This link takes you to my webpage where I sell Thirty-One products)
