Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Last month we got to reveal the first chapter of the second book of The Startup Squad and last year we got review the first one! Today we will be sharing our review of the second book, Face the Music, by Brian Weisfeld and Nicole C. Kear.
In the first book we met the group of girls thrown together for a school project. The girls are Harriet, Didi, Resa, and Amelia. Through the first book of trying to be entrepreneurs for a class assignment the girls work through their differences and become friends. This book picks up on that friendship and they are ready to help Harriet raise money to replace her brother's broken guitar. They have a time limit because her brother's band wants to enter the great Battle of the Bands. Will they be able to do it or will they make everything even worse?
I love how this book has the girls brainstorm, make mistakes, and learn from those mistakes to have success. These books provide an interesting story as well as lessons on how to start a business. I love how they think through the process to sell t-shirts for Harriet's brothers' band, the Radical Skinks. Their first attempt is a failure but they learn from their mistakes and restrategize. They also learn to work with one another's strengths. This story is a great look at friendship, compromise and success.
I also love how this book is a wonderful story for someone who just wants a fun story to read. It has drama and excitement as well as disappointment. It has lessons built into it about being entrepreneurs and how to go about it as well as how to plan for it and think it through. I hope you will check it out. I know girls will love it!
