Weird But True: Halloween -- Fun Facts about Halloween with free printable

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Can you believe October starts tomorrow? October has been a bit of a dreaded month in our house. Since a young age Hazel has hated the scary and gory Halloween decorations and costumes. It got so bad I couldn't take her into stores with me in October. Last year she decided she no longer wanted to trick-or-treat. She use to love dressing up for trick-or-treating but now is getting older and not caring. Little does she know that there was a time where Halloween decorations included cupids to encourage romance. In fact Halloween was associated with love and romance. Yes, this is one of the weird facts I learned from National Geographic Kids Weird But True: Halloween by Julie Beer and Michelle Harris.

Now I love the Weird But True series. We have shared many of them with you. I have also used them several times to make "Did you know...?" lunchbox notes. Hazel actually shared them in third grade with her class. They all asked to hear them when I put them in. I made some for the entire month of October and am going to share them with you at the end of this post.

Weird But True: Halloween does not disappoint. It is full of interesting and strange facts about Halloween, Halloween-themed topics and animals and more! As a book from National Geographic Kids it is full of photos and very colorful. It has 300 fun facts (so my 31 are just a sample of what is in the book). Some are hard to believe and others are just amazing. I find the Weird But True books interest even the reluctant readers because of the entertaining information and the fact that it is often facts and not paragraphs to read. Want to learn something new about Halloween? This book will have it and more.

I picked 31 interesting but not scary or gory facts to share with your family. You can throw them in lunchboxes or leave them as interesting conversation starters at dinner. However you use them, please make sure they are only used personally. If you want to share them please refer people back to this post. Thank you! Please note if you have trouble downloading any of my free printables it is because of your end of the computer. Often I get permission requests from people whose work network does not allow them to access the download. If that is not the case please let me know that you are having a problem. And of course be sure to check out the book to learn the other 269 fun facts! The book will definitely entertain you and your family. Plus what a fun thing to do in a year where Halloween will look so different from the past.
