Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Have you ever read a book that moves you and changes your life almost instantly? The book I am sharing is one of those books. It was so moving to me that I told Hazel and Steve that they need to read this book. All three of us tend to be anxious people and after this past year there is a lot to be anxious about. This book is perfect for anyone who feels anxious, stressed or worried. The book is Peaceful on Purpose by Joel Osteen.
From the Publisher:
Live from a place of abundant peace in the midst of life's everyday worries and stress with #1 New York Times bestselling author and Lakewood Church pastor Joel Osteen. The opposite of peace is worry and stress. Both are thieves that rob you of your sleep, joy, creativity, and good decisions. If you allow them into your mind, they can even keep you from your destiny. But if you learn how to change your automatic responses to these struggles and give your problems to God, He can go to work in your life.
If you're tired of living in tension and anxiety, then it's time to change. In Peaceful on Purpose, you will discover that you weren't designed to carry the heavy load yourself: step back to let God step in. Find peace so that you can stop worrying about your health, job, finances, or relationships.
Life may be chaotic all around you, but you can live grounded in a calm spirit by drawing on scriptural examples and Joel's insightful personal experiences to find fulfillment. Learn how to give it to God so that He can exceed your expectations.
From Me:
This book was amazing. From the first chapter it drew me in and I knew it was a gamechanger. The book itself has six chapters and then there are discussion questions at the end for book clubs. The book is an easy read and the stories shared pull you in and there will be something that will relate to your own life. Throughout the book there are phrases Joel suggests you keep in your heart. I have taken them and made printables (click and right click to save photos and print them) with photographs I have on my computer (either my sister or I took them). In the first chapter the saying is "All is well." Or "All is well with my soul." Now we hear that all the time, but do you think about the meaning of the saying? Joel gives it meaning and that by saying it you are turning your trust to God. Yes, this book is about trusting and allowing God to have control.
One of the most powerful things for me was realizing that stress, worry and anxiety are ways of not trusting God. Since God tells us we do not need to worry as one of His chosen ones, we should not be worrying. Now I know that it is a hard request but there are suggestions throughout the book that helped me make some mental changes that are helping me fight the worries. And yes the sayings are part of it which is why I made the printables. The next phrase I made printables for comes in a later chapter, but it is "Let it go." Let it go as in let go of your worries and anxieties.
This book does an amazing job of taking some of our everyday fears and stressors and showing how they can make us turn away from God. It is our job each day to choose to trust God. The book relates to everyone whether you are worried about your job, finances, family, health, abuse, etc. Joel wrote it during the pandemic and mentions the pandemic in some spots. I personally think this book is a game changer for everyone's life.
It is a book I would highly recommend to anyone who has anxiety and worry or is going through a stressful time in life. I would also say it will resonate with just about everyone. It is a Christian book and God as well as scripture are heavily in this book. It was interesting to me how Joel took the Bible stories that I have read, studied and taught and gave them a new outlook for me. The emphasis throughout the book is trust in God as a Christian. I hope you will check it out. I know you won't be disappointed.
I actually have more printables as well as ones I made for Instagram. They are all made with the same sayings as I have shared here but a few other backgrounds. There are full page printables and then square ones. As with all of my printables, if you would like to share them, please send the person to this post. All of them are available here. (Please note if you are not able to get into the Google Drive it is because your company is blocking you and it is not on my end.)
