Disclosure: I was sent this product in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Last summer I discovered the joy and relaxation of paint by numbers. I had the pleasure of reviewing a custom paint by number from Winnie's Picks. Needless to say when they offered me another one to review this summer I jumped at the offer. I had a hard time choosing which one I wanted to try. There are many great choices, and of course you can do a custom one like I did last year. I decided to go with Hollyhocks in the Evening Glow. I am considering gifting it to my father since he loves hollyhocks but now that it is done I'm not sure I can give it up.
The kit comes with a rolled canvas with the design and numbers on it. Then there are the paints that have the numbers on the tops of the colors and four brushes plus instructions and a black and white picture of the design with the numbers in case you have trouble reading something on the canvas or paint over a line a bit. The first step is to flatten the linen and get it so it won't roll up. Once that is done you get to start painting. You will need a container of water. The instructions suggest putting a drop of dishwashing soap in it. I did this and found the brushes were easy to clean. I started with the background color because I wanted to make sure it looked like background with the flowers popping out from it. However the instructions say to start anywhere you want. I love how the background came out. The photos do not do it justice. There were a few spaces that didn't have numbers but I guessed which colors to use and felt that this makes it a little more personal. The painting comes with a small finished photo of the painting to see the general colors as well. I managed to finish the painting right before going on vacation this week. I may do some touch up when I get home but I am loving it.
