Doggo and Pupper Search for Cozy

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Today I get to share the latest book from Katherine Applegate! I have had the pleasure of reviewing a few of her books in the past. Today's book is an early chapter book. It is recommended for ages 6 to 9. The book is part of the Doggo and Pupper series. It is Doggo and Pupper Search for Cozy by Katherine Applegate and illustrated by Charlie Alder.

From the Publisher:

In Doggo and Pupper Search for Cozy — the conclusion to the Doggo and Pupper early readers trilogy by New York Times-bestselling author Katherine Applegate with a brightly colored palette from Charlie Alder — the canines help Cat adjust to a big change: A new bed!

When Cat announces that the Humans have given her a surprise present, Doggo and Pupper are all ears. But when they find out that Cat has a new bed and misses her old one, they set out to help her search for cozy.

Change is difficult, and Katherine Applegate understands how it feels to miss a beloved source of security. Very young readers will relate to Doggo, Pupper, and Cat, and appreciate their friendship and empathy.

From Me:

Cat has a problem. Her parents got rid of her old scratched up and filthy bed and got her a brand new one. It looks the same, but it isn't her cozy old bed. She tells her dog friends, Doggo and Pupper. They come check it out and don't completely understand why she is so upset. They however feel bad for her since she is. This book teaches a bit about empathy and caring for others.

Have you ever had trouble getting use to something new? Perhaps a new bed or a new pair of jeans? Remember when they just didn't feel like your old favorite ones? The old ones needed replacing but it takes time to break in new things and find them comfortable. For me it is sleeping somewhere for the first night. I usually sleep much better the second night. Well Cat suffers through the first night. The dogs are so worried about their friend that they sneak out to find her old bed in the trash. When they bring her the old bed they find her sleeping on her new bed. She has finally begun to break it in.

I love how this book uses cute animals to teach about friendship, empathy as well as accepting change. Change can be hard on anyone but especially kids. This book helps them realize change is part of life and can be all right if they accept it. I hope you will check out this sweet book for the little ones in your life!
