From Me:

This book is very sweet. There is a asteroid heading towards Earth. NASA doesn't have time to build the spaceship needed to send humans to knock it off the course to collide and damage Earth, but they do have time to send their favorite mousetronaut and a team of mice. After all mice need smaller spaceships. The mice go into space and are able to knock the asteroid off its trajectory and make sure it won't collide with any of the planets in the solar system. However, they run into a problem and can't make it back to Earth. They are able to land on the moon. Will they be stuck on the moon, or will more astronauts save them?

The illustrations in this book are amazing! The mice are made to have some character and not just be cute for a picture book. The details are amazing as well. The book is fun and of course a bit silly since we cannot send mice to pilot a rocket. They visit Mars and the moon as well as making sure the asteroid does not damage the other planets. It is an introduction to our Solar System as well as space travel. I also love that the President of the United States is a woman in this book!

In the Afterword, Jack Kelly explains how the book is based on a partially true story and what the story is. He also gives details about the planets and other space information. Simon & Schuster also offer a downloadable activity kit to go with the book that includes a creative coloring page, maze, space true or false trivia, and a planet name puzzle.
