Last week I shared a round-up of books for animal lovers. Today I am sharing books for dinosaur lovers and some of them are perfect for Spanish learners or bilingual kids. If you like to give a gift to read and have a dinosaur lover in your life this post is for you! We will start with the stand-alone book (the others are in a series together). It is A Dinosaur a Day by Miranda Smith. This book is recommended for ages 6 to 9.
From the Publisher:

In this gorgeous calendarized collection, you’ll find familiar and lesser-known names—from ferocious Tyrannosaurus to armored Ankylosaurus—alongside newly discovered species, all brought to life with stunning illustrations and fascinating facts.
Prepare to encounter some familiar reptilian faces, as well as learn about new-to-you dinosaurs that might become new favorites. With 365 dinosaurs to take you through the year, this is the quintessential introduction to all things dinosaur.
It's the ultimate gift for any dino lover, from age 6 to 106!
From Me:
Similar to the animal book last week, this book shares a species of dinosaur each day of the year. Talk about a book for dinosaur lovers! The beginning of the book shares a bit about the world of dinosaurs, the rise of them and how we know about them as well as some of the other animals that lived during their times. At the end of the book is information about the end of dinosaurs and who survived this time period. There is a pronunciation guide and glossary as well. The book also has a table of contents and index to look up species.
For each dinosaur there is a bit of information about the species as well as the period, family, diet, length, weight and where they lived. The book is divided into sections of kinds of dinosaurs. As you can see on the page below it shares the roof lizards. This book is fun for a dinosaur lover as well as a classroom. A teacher doing a dinosaur unit or theme could use this book to teach about different species each day or kids can look up their birthday to see what dinosaur is there.
Our other three books are the Lolo & Birdie series. These books are bilingual books with English and Spanish. The books are by Angela Dominguez and are recommended for ages 2 to 4. The most recent one is Lolo and Birdie: I Want More! / ¡Quiero Más!
From the Publisher:
Lolo and Birdie are back for more! Join the adorable bird and dinosaur duo as they continue to navigate the hazards of childhood, in English and Spanish, in the next installment of this sweet and funny bilingual picture book series. When Birdie gives Lolo a flower from the garden, Lolo is happy. But one flower is not enough for Lolo. He wants more! ¡El quiere más! Soon, there are no more flowers in the garden. ¡Qué triste! How sad! Maybe they can plant more. But how will Birdie keep up with Lolo's enthusiastic demands? More seeds! More soil! More water! ¡Más y más y más!
This charming bilingual picture book is perfect for insatiable young readers. They'll be delighted by the latest Lolo & Birdie adventure as they learn alongside these two funny friends, in English and Spanish.
From Me:
In this book we see how Lolo, the dinosaur, goes overboard on most things. He isn't happy with one flower from Birdie's garden. He wants them all and more. When they plant more seeds, he plants them all, so they then need more soil. You get the idea. However, at the end when they have a beautiful full garden, he is finally happy.
In these books Lolo speaks Spanish. Birdie usually interprets it for us by rewording in English what he said. Lolo has a fun-loving attitude, and it shows in all three books. Birdie is the more responsible one and seems to take care of Lolo. This book is fun about amounts, requests and friendships.
The first book in the series is I'm Hungry! / ¡Tengo hambre! It shares when Lolo and Birdie meet.A bilingual picture book that’s sweet enough to eat about a chatty bluebird and an indecisive T. Rex who can’t decide what his next meal should be, introducing readers to basic Spanish and English food vocabulary.
When a bluebird comes upon a dinosaur who’s down in the dumps, he asks what’s wrong.
“¡Tengo hambre!” says the dinosaur. I’m hungry!
Does the dinosaur want a banana?
“¿Plátano? No.”
Fish?
“¿Pescado? No, gracias.”
Nothing seems to do the trick! What does dinosaur want to eat? This delightful bilingual picture book is about finding just the right food—and just the right friend. Perfect for fans of We Don't Eat Our Classmates and Stegothesaurus.
From Me:
Birdie is ready to go to bed, but when he approaches Lolo to say goodnight, Lolo isn't tired! Birdie tries everything to help Lolo get ready for bed: reading, snacks, brushing teeth, but Lolo has way too much to do.
This delightful bilingual picture book is perfect for young readers who, like most, are reluctant for the day to end.
