I love this book!! It is sweet and encourages reading, love of books, and sharing. Dragon is off to the library. First, she has an adorable book bag. She is taking her books back to the library so she can get new ones to read. She makes returning her books fun as she drops them down the return chute. Then she picks out new books and when she goes for her favorite book, it isn't on the shelf. Her friend Sir Fiero comes by, and she realizes he has her favorite book. She tries to grab it from him, but he doesn't want to give up his favorite book which he got first. Sir Fiero checks out the book. They meet up again in their favorite reading spot--the park. They fight over the book again and it goes flying. The princess finds the book and begins to read it aloud. Others gather around her to hear the story. When Sir Fiero and Dragon find them, Sir Fiero tries to get his book back. The princess asks him to be patient so she can finish reading the book to everyone. Dragon realizes as she watches all of her friends enjoy her favorite book, that it is important to wait your turn and share. She even doesn't take the book when Sir Fiero offers her it.
This book has so many wonderful messages. First of course the love of reading and visiting the library! Then there is the message of sharing and waiting one's turn. All the messages are shared in a fun way. After all who does not love a kind dragon who loves books! The story is fun and sweet, and the illustrations are colorful and fun. This book is perfect for a story time either in public or classroom and it is also perfect for a book to be read at home. It is sure to be loved by the kids as well as the adults!! I shared a dragon craft roundup a few months ago if you would like a craft to go with this book!
