Animal Books for the Youngest Kids

Disclosure: I was sent copies of these books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

We are having one of the coldest winters in many years here in New England at least. It makes me want to think about spring and with spring comes cute animals! I am sharing two board books and one small picture book that are animal themed and for our younger kids. All are recommended for baby to three-years-old. The first book is the picture book. It is from the World of Eric Carle. It is Baby Bear's Time to Grow with Brown Bear and Friends by Eric Carle and OddDot and illustrated by Eric Carle.

From the Publisher:

From the World of Eric Carle comes a celebration of dreams, imagination, and growing up. Join Brown Bear and his friends on a colorful journey filled with enchanting illustrations that showcase the fun and unique things we might become and do when we grow up. This charming board book for young readers 0-3 inspires little ones to dream big. Filled with heartwarming messages and Carle's beloved illustrations, it's a joyful reminder that no matter what path we choose, we are cherished and loved.

From Me:

I love what they are doing with Eric Carle's characters. Brown Bear is back with Baby Bear. Baby Bear is growing, and the book's theme is all about what Baby Bear will be. It goes through different animals and a tree as well as some characteristics like courageous and helping others. It ends with a wonderful message of how the parent will always be proud no matter what.

This book is cute and has that wonderful message about how kids can be anything and how proud the special adults in their lives are of them. Plus, it has Eric Carle's amazing illustrations! It is fun and cute.

The other two books for today are board books. The first is Animals at Home by Xavier Deneux.

From the Publisher:

Take a peek inside! With pop-ups and die-cut details, Animals at Home gives readers a special look into what animals do in and around their homes. A bear looks out at a snowy landscape from its warm and cozy den, ants carry food through the tunnels of their anthill—and more!
• Sturdy board book with pop-ups and die-cut holes
• Introduces young children to animals
• Adorable art by an award-winning creator

Children who enjoy Animals at Home will also like other books in the series, including My Books.

This is a cute book showing the different places animals live. It includes a bear, owl, puppy, mice, ants, and rabbits. It ends with a message about going to bed. It is the perfect book for bedtime. The pages are pop-up adding dimension to the homes. It is short and sweet.

I can see young people loving it and parents enjoying the shortness for bedtime! Kids will get excited for this book and especially with the popup pages.

The final book is also a bedtime board book! It is Bedtime Kisses by Élisabeth de Lambilly and illustrated by Mélisande Luthringer.

From the Publisher:

A gentle and reassuring bedtime companion for little ones. As night falls, parents everywhere hold their babies close: a baby monkey sleeps, safe in its mother’s arms; a baby whale snuggles tight, and a baby kangaroo gets a tickle and kiss. Featuring shaped die-cut pages that are graduated in size for a “what’s next?” sense of discovery, the youngest readers will enjoy poring over the adorably illustrated pages of familiar animal friends as they say “good night.”

From Me:

This book is sweet and cute. It has layered pages so you can see the next animal ahead of time. It includes squirrels, monkeys, kangaroos, whales, and humans. It is another short story about getting ready for bed. Needless to say, it is the perfect bedtime story.

This book is all about getting ready to go to sleep. It reads almost like a lullaby. The layered pages make it fun for kids to guess what is coming next. The illustrations are cute and colorful. It is the perfect book for bedtime stories.
