Hazel goes back next Wednesday. Our summer is coming to an end and it feels like it just began. Such is the way of life. Today I am going to share three books for kids starting school or about school (and its lessons). Each child has his or her own difficulties and anxieties about school and these books seem to help kids with different ones. The first is for kids with allergies or who will be in a class/school with kids with allergies. It is Eppie the Elephant (Who Was Allergic to Peanuts) by Livingstone Crouse and illustrated by Steve Brown.

It is October and this is Hazel's least favorite month. Many of the Halloween decorations and costumes scare her. In fact there are only a few stores she will go into with me this time of year. Yes, just seeing the Halloween displays can give her nightmares. But she does love to dress-up and loves to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood, so I always try to find a friendly way to celebrate Halloween. Last year we did a Christian Halloween party. This year Hazel discovered Snoopy and the Peanuts gang so thanks to Oriental Trading we are hosting a Peanuts themed Halloween party.
Do you know anyone with food allergies? Hazel has several friends with severe nut allergies and a friend with so many allergies that it is impossible for anyone besides his parents to feed him. Yes, his mother brings food to play dates, parties, and everywhere. When Hazel was a baby I met a now good friend and her son has severe nut allergies. Her biggest complaint about Halloween is that it is hard on her son to go trick-or-treating and then not be able to eat any of it. When they still lived in our neighborhood I would always make him a goody bag of toys and non-food items, just so he could have a treat he could enjoy. This year I saw on Facebook about the Teal Pumpkin Project.

I am so excited to review this product and offer one as a prize!! Why? Because it is something I have been searching for almost my whole life. I know you are now thinking I am a bit crazy. After all it is a watch and you can find watches everywhere. However I have extremely sensitive skin and possibly an allergy to nickel. With this issue every watch I have owned has given me a watch if I wore them regularly. And I should add I have owned/tried many watches. I grew up in the 80's so I always wore a Swatch, but every couple of weeks I would have to put nail polish on the battery cover so it would not give me a rash. I wasn't so sure about always having nail polish next to my skin and stopped wearing them. I had a nice gold watch my grandparents gave me for my high school graduation, but I could only wear it for one day or it would give me the rash. I even found watches with ribbon bands, but where the ribbon connected still gave me the rash. (Did I mention the button on jeans gives me a rash?) So in college or so I stopped wearing watches and had finally just given up on them. Then JORD Watch contacted me asking if I would like to review on of their wood watches. When I saw that they were almost completely wooden, I jumped at the chance.
