The Monsters of Marymount Mansion --Book Review, Giveaway and Craft Round-Up

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am working with The Children's Book Review and Gregory C. Allen to bring you this post and giveaway.

Today I am continuing my Halloween themed books with one about monsters. It is part of The Children's Book Review Virtual Book Tour of The Monsters of Marymount Mansion by Gregory C. Allen and illustrated by Shelby Goodwin. This book is an early reader chapter book that has wonderful themes about new experiences, accepting differences and so much more. There is a giveaway at the end of the post and I am including a fun monster craft round-up to go with the book!

Creating Frankenstein -- Learn about Mary Shelley #WomensHistoryMonth

Disclosure: Macmillan Publishers sent me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

It is the beginning of March so that means it is Women's History Month!! This is another of my favorite months because I love teaching Hazel about strong women. To kick off the month I am sharing a young adult book with you about Mary Shelley and her creation of Frankenstein. What do you know about Mary Shelley? Do you know how she came up with the immortal monster, Frankenstein? You can learn all about her and her life and writing in Mary's Monster: Love, Madness, and How Mary Shelley Created Frankenstein by Lita Judge.

The Last Kids on Earth -- Book Review

I have 2 current giveaways!! One for an Origami Toy Monsters Book & Kit and the other for 2 DVDs.
Disclosure: Penguin Kids gave me a copy of this book free of charge for this review. All opinions in my review are my own and I did not receive any other compensation.  As in all my reviews I am providing links for your ease, but receive no compensation.

Today I am sharing with you a book written for middle grade (grades 3-7) readers. It is definitely not Hazel's type of book. I started reading it to her, but she got scared very quickly. It however is great for Halloween since it is about a monster apocalypse. The book is The Last Kids on Earth by Max Brallier and illustrated by Douglas Holgate. The book is part adventure story and part comic. It is entertaining and hard to put down even for someone who does not usually read this type of book.
